In the third episode of LegalTalk, our series of weekly Youtube lives about law and technology, we interviewed Nancy Caigawa, a partner and lawyer at Kasznar Leonardos Intellectual Property.
In it we talk, as always, we discussed the impact of technology on the law, which Dr. Nancy summed up as follows:
“Technological advances have profoundly impacted society as a whole, not only the way we do things, but also in the way we communicate, and the way people and companies, or entities, relate to each other. As it couldn’t be otherwise, the law was also impacted by such technological advances, and much. In addition to the need for regulation and the creation of new legal frameworks, such as the Marco Civil da Internet and the LGPD [the Brazilian equivalent of the European General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR], the law has also been profoundly impacted in the way professionals act, in their routine, in their practice, within their offices and in the courts.”
In the episode, we also talked about the different types of intellectual property rights, such as copyright, trademarks, patents, among others, with their different requirements, and how blockchain technology can be of help in each of them. You can watch the full video below!
